March 7 State Champions in Conway

Chase Anderson and Taylor Williams topped competitors from around the state at the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship. The event, held on March 7th in Conway, brought together shooters from ages 10 to 14 who had won at both the local and district levels.

Anderson capped off his last year of eligibility with his fourth district championship and his third state crown. His run this year was his best ever. He sank 13 of 15 at the local level, 24 of 25 at the district level, and 21 of 25 at the state championship, where he competed against six other 14 year old boys.

Williams was the 11 year old girl champ. She made it to the state level last year only to fall short. This year, it took her two overtimes to win at the district level, and she did not waste the opportunity. She sank 18 of 25 to beat three other district champions and capture the state title.

Haley O’Donnell from Hot Springs Village placed third among 12 year old girls. Haley, Chase, and Taylor all attend Jessieville School.

This marks the third year in a row that the Hot Springs Village Knights of Columbus council produced two of the ten state champions.
