Buddy Dixon |
Buddy and Martha have been married for 52 years. Buddy was a convert to Catholicism at that time. They have 4 children and 13 grandchildren. Martha is active in the Ladies of The Sacred Heart, Eucharistic Ministry, & money counters. They both graduated from college, and Buddy played football at the University of Tennessee. Buddy was on active duty with the Air Force as a pilot and was in the reserve. He worked in the oil and gas industry until his retirement in December 1995. They have been in the village for 13 years.
Knights Buddy joined the Knights in June, 1999, the 2nd/3rd in March 2000, and the 4thDegree Assembly in June 2000. He served as Deputy Grand Knight for 1 year and Trustee for 3 years. He planned meals for 4 years and the Memorial Mass for widows for 8 years. He was on the planning committee for the 1st New Year’s Eve party, and the planning committee for first Wives’ Appreciation Dinner. He worked Disabilities Drive for several years and served in other activities for the Knights.
Church Buddy served on the Pastoral Council 4 years and was chairman 3 consecutive years. He was on the Liturgy Committee for 12 years, chairing or co-chairing it for 5 years, and he was on the Long Range Planning Committee for 10 years. He was on a special assignment for 10 years on the Columbarium and Cemetery Committee, and he is in his fourth year as chairman. Buddy has been a Eucharistic Minister to the Home Bound for 4 years and the Minister of Music for 12 years, training cantors, and planning music for funerals, memorial masses, weddings. He helps to plan for the Feast of the Sacred Heart ceremony.
Community Buddy serves on the Architectural Control Committee for the POA. He has been a member of the Cedar Mountain Singers for 10 years. He had worked at the Ponce de Leon Golf Pro Shop and he assisted with the junior golf program for 4 years.
Buddy has certainly given of himself for the Church, Council, and Community and has held true to the four tenets of the Knights of Columbus. Congratulations.
