Bill is being honored as Knight of the Month for almost single handedly raising over $1,400 for the Council in selling 400 Nativity Scene Keep Christ in Christmas magnets. He recommended the activity to complement the Council’s emphasis on keeping Christ in Christmas and then led the effort when asked to do so by the grand knight. He was previously selected as knight of the month in April, 2008.
Bill has been married to Valerie for almost 26 years. They have 3 sons, 2 daughters and 10 grandchildren in their blended family. They moved to the Village on July 15, 2005 from Nashville where Bill taught Spanish and English as a Second Language in high school for 38 years.
Bill became a knight in August, 1987. For Council 10208 he is in his second year as warden and previously served two years as the inside guard. Having become a 4th Degree knight in 1993, Bill serves as faithful scribe in Assembly 2316 and is responsible for the flags.
He ushers at the Saturday Mass and he and Valeria participated in Sacred Heart’s pilgrimage to Portugal and Italy.
Bill works at the knights’ Breakfasts for Parishioners, is co-chairman for decorations for Mardi-Gras, participates in the Jesuit Montserrat Silent Retreat, and volunteers for Persons with Disabilities Campaign and the Christmas Charity for Local Families in Need Ham Sales.
Of all the community activities in which Bill has participated, he is most proud of being a 27+ gallon blood donor through the Red Cross donor program. Just think of all of the lives that Bill has touched in sharing the "Gift of Life."
Congratulations, Bill, on your dedicated service and the enthusiasm that you bring to this council.
