KofC Free Throw Contest--Huge Success

Brother Walter Free, Youth Programs Director, did it again!!  He and a handful of Brother Knights did a great job planning and executing this year's Free Throw Competition.  A total of fifty-three local area youth participated in the 2019 HSV Knights of Columbus sponsored program at the Jessieville Sports Arena on January 25.  The 12 Winners for Boys and Girls age groups 9 – 14 are eligible to advance to the district and state competitions.

Grand Knight Ed Doyle recently presented a $2,000 CPID check to the Hot Springs Civitan Club. Receiving the donation are Club President Jo West Taylor Davis (left) and club member Mary Ann Witcraft, widow of deceased Knight Roger Witcraft, The money will be used to purchase playground equipment for developmentally disabled children.

Sir Knight Ron Boudreaux was recognized by the Council at the last meeting for his lifetime contributions and achievements in our Council.  Brother Ron is a Past Grand Knight, Past Faithful Navigator and one of the Knights who has contributed to the growth and health of Council 10208 for many years.  It's leaders like him who have built this organizatto the best Knights of Columbus council in Arkansas. Ron has been a shining example to every knight in our council.

Family of the Month - Jim and Pookie Dixon
Knight's Family of the Month for November 2018 are Jim and Pookie Dixon.  Jim and Pookie have been handling the downstairs portion of the Memorial Mass and Dinner for a few years, and it keeps getting better and better.  This is one of our most important and complicated events and the Dixon's handle all the details admirably.  Pookie’s decorations always make the lower hall look beautiful in honor of our deceased Knights and their widows.  Jim is our Council’s Community Director.  He is always active in CPID gate and business solicitations, various ticket sales, Fall Fest hall prep and cleanup, Pro-Life Cross program and 4th Degree flag placement.

Knight of the Month - Bill Patterson
November 2018 Knight of the Month is Bill Patterson.  Bill has held a number of leadership positions in the Knights of Columbus.  He was Grand Knight from 2002 to 2004 and Faithful Navigator in 2006/2007.  He is also a member of our 1st Degree team and is Commander of our Fourth Degree Color Corps.  Bill is the altar server coordinator and a Eucharistic minister.  He serves on our parish cemetery committee, the basket committee and the parish welcoming committee.  Bill is a past president of the parish Men’s Club and presently serves as secretary of that fine organization.  His latest achievement was his handling of last month’s Memorial Mass and Dinner.  Bill took over from Buddy Dixon and did an outstanding job!  Bill has also been married to his lovely wife Diane for 60 years.

Hot Springs Village Knights of Columbus Council 10208 members recently attended the Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center Legacy of Life fund raising Banquet held at the Embassy Suites on October 18, 2018, in Little Rock, AR.

Knights and wives in attendance were GK Ed Doyle and Paula, FS Rick Phillips and Celeste, Tom Donnelly, Bill Nosek, Dave and Kathleen Witchger, Sam and Alice Justus, Rick and Sandy Darnell, Gerald and Ann Krawczynski, Evelyn Garrison wife of Marshall Garrison, Jackie Fayman wife of deceased Knight Don Fayman.  Council 10208 presented a donation to Brian Gilmartin, president of the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Pregnancy Resource Center.
