Knight of the Month - Frank Cox
Knight of the Month - Frank Cox
Our Co-Knight of the Month in September is Frank Cox.  Frank has just completed what I consider to be one of the toughest jobs in either the council or the parish.  He ran our bi-annual Treasure Sale.  As you all know, this is a major undertaking and an important fundraiser for St. John’s School and Our Lady of Fatima School.

The Treasure Sale is a project with many moving parts that require coordination and managerial expertise.  In his first year as manager, Frank handled the job admirably and was instrumental in raising $14,000 for Catholic Education.  Frank also volunteers at
Samaritan Ministries and delivers food baskets at Thanksgiving, Easter and during the summer.  Let’s hear it for Knight of the Month Frank Cox!

Knight of the Month - Ken Silvers
Knight of the Month - Ken Silvers

September 2018 Knight of The Month is Ken Silvers.  Ken is involved in just about everything. For example, this is a short list of all his volunteer activities: Special Olympics, KofC Free Throw Contest, Fountain Lakes Field Day, Blood Donations, Mountain Pine Reality Fair, Samaritan House Dinners, St. John’s Charity Golf Tournament.  Selling tickets for various council fundraisers, CPID, Food Basket Program and cooking for monthly council meetings, spaghetti dinners, fish fries, 4th of July bbq, seminarian dinners and exemplification dinners. In his spare time, Ken pursues his acting career with the Hot Springs Village Players.  Ken is a great example of what it means to be a Knight and we are proud to name him Knight of the Month!

Knight of the Month - Dave Salmen
Knight of the Month - Dave Salmen
If you’re looking for an example of an active knight, Dave Salmen would be a great choice.  He delivers for Project Home Senior Food.  He delivers food baskets at Easter, in the summer time, at Thanksgiving and Christmas.  He collects gate donations every year in the Campaign for People with Intellectual Disabilities (CPID).  He has been a Perpetual Adorer at Sacred Heart Parish ever since the program started five years ago.  He was an usher at the eight o’clock Mass and now had moved to the ten.  Dave has been active in Meals-on- Wheels for sixteen years.  As program coordinator, he schedules and trains drivers.  He also works in the kitchen at 3rd and 4th Degree meetings, as well as parish breakfasts and spaghetti dinners.  On top of all this, Dave finds time to be an active member of the Hot Springs Village Breakfast Lions Club.

Congratulations to our Council’s Knight of the Month for August!
